Lead generation is a way of encouraging people to contact you or being given information to contact a person or another business because they have signified that they have an interest in your products or services. There is a number of ways in which you can generate leads, some companies do it through cold calling others do it by speaking to people at a networking event or even by posting on websites and forums and contact anyone who may be interested in what you are selling.
Cold calling often has quite a low response rate and often business end up annoying people more than making sales. This is because the calls are often not justified and a high percentage of people are not interested in your product or service. If you can try and contact people who have already shown an interest in what you sell then the success rate will often be a lot higher.
You may wish to generate leads through your website by getting people to fill in a form or request a brochure for example.
